Reap in fall's goodness at Algonquin's Country Harvest Day

Old Time Country Harvest Day will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10 in downtown Algonquin.

From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Downtown Algonquin Partnership's event on South Harrison and Washington streets will include free games for kids, pumpkin contest, craft fair, and a sidewalk costume parade for kids starting at noon. This area will also feature the farmers market sponsored by the partnership that is held throughout the summer months. For details, visit downtownalgonquin.org.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., discover downtown Algonquin and elements of the town's local history at the Algonquin Historic Commission's seventh annual Historic Cemetery Walk. The cemetery tour will feature five former residents who will bring to life Algonquin's early and colorful history through stories of their lives as they meet with visitors. Advance tickets are not required however a suggested donation of $1 per person is being accepted at the event for the Algonquin Historic Commission to assist with preservation of Algonquin's diverse and rich history. Free shuttle bus runs approximately every 20 minutes from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Service is available from: historic village hall parking lot, 2 S. Main St.; South Harrison Street municipal parking lot; and the Algonquin Cemetery. The rain date is Oct. 17.
