Music on Stage brings Scotland to Palatine

The Music On Stage production of "Brigadoon," the whimsical musical fantasy, open Saturday, Oct. 10, at Cutting Hall theater in Palatine and runs through Oct. 25.

The story is set in a magical Scottish village that comes out of the Highland mists once every hundred years, only to disappear after one day. Two 20th-century American tourists stumble across this enchanted village and one of them, Tommy, played by Tony Calzaretta of Schaumburg, falls in love with a local lass, Fiona, played by Julie Bayer of Naperville.

"Brigadoon" established the team of Lerner and Loewe as the successors to Rodgers and Hammerstein.

The local production is directed by Kevin Wiczer, with music direction by Ann Stewart and choreography by Kara Williams.

The opening night performance - at 8 p.m. Saturday - will be followed by a gala with complimentary refreshments and a chance to mingle with the cast.

Subsequent performances are 3 p.m. Sundays, Oct. 11, 18 and 25; 8 p.m. Fridays, Oct. 16 and 23; and 8 p.m. Saturdays Oct. 17 and 24.

Tickets are $17-$22 and are available at (847) 202-5222, or musiconstage.org.
