AARP driver program

AARP Driver Safety Program is being offered in Batavia in conjunction with Green Light Driving School from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today and Wednesday. Musical sandwiches

Batavia High School music students are selling hoagies. Orders can called in to (630) 761-2963 through Wednesday, or placed with any BHS music student. The sandwiches cost $3 apiece, and will be made Oct. 24. Phone orders can be picked up from 10 to 11 a.m. that day at Rotolo Middle School. Each sandwich is on a Turano Italian roll with olive oil, oregano, Genoa salami, peppered ham, provolone cheese, tomatoes and onions.

Meet 14th candidate

Suicide group to meet

Attempters of Suicide support group meets from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Stone Manor, 528 S. Batavia Ave. (Route 31), Batavia. It is sponsored by Suicide Prevention Services. Call (630) 482-9696, or visit spsfv.org.

Mmm ... brownies

The Batavia Mothers' Club Foundation will hold its Brownie Bake-Off at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Four Beans Coffee House, 1928 W. Wilson St. Judging the club members' brownies are Bill McGrath, city administrator; Alderman Linnea Miller; Batavia Police Cmdr. Dennis Thomas; Britta McKenna, MainStreet Batavia Executive Director; Batavia Fire Battalion Chief Randy Zeis; and Buff Bevil, Four Beans' owner. The winning brownies, including the recipe, will be featured at the bake sale at the club's Oct. 17 Autumn Arts and Crafts Show.

Cinderella needs clothes

Cinderella's Closet, an event sponsored by the Junior League of Kane and DuPage counties to provide financially challenged young women with prom outfits, is holding a Dress and Accessory Drive. Prom dresses, jewelry, evening wraps, purses, hair accessories and formal shoes can be dropped off through Friday at First Centennial Mortgage, 2471 W. Sullivan Road, Aurora; and Elburn Town and Country Public Library, 320 E.
