Man charged in Wheaton apartment burglaries

A 28-year-old Carol Stream man has been charged burglarizing two Wheaton apartments.

Police arrested Michael A. Fisher early Saturday morning after residents of one of the burgled apartments reported the break-in.

When police arrived, they noticed a nearby apartment door open and discovered Fisher inside. The residents of that apartment were asleep at the time and had no knowledge of that Fisher had entered their home.

Police said Fisher was first discovered by two female roommates living in an apartment on the 800 block of East College Avenue who spotted him shortly after he broke into their unit. They called police as he fled.

Police said Fisher had entered each of the apartments through unlocked windows, and stole laptop computers.

Investigators are trying to determine if Fisher is responsible for any other recent burglaries that have occurred in the area.

He is being held at the DuPage County jail in Wheaton in lieu of a $150,000 bond.
