Trout season nears

Trout season opens one hour after sunrise Oct. 17 in the DuPage County Forest Preserve District. The district will stock three lakes with rainbow trout - Blackwell Forest Preserve in Warrenville will get 2,600 fish; Deep Quarry Lake at West Branch Forest Preserve in Bartlett with get 2,200 fish; and Grove Lake at Wood Dale Grove Forest Preserve in Wood Dale will get 450 fish. The fish will average about 1 pound each. To allow the trout to acclimate, the three lakes will be closed to all fishing through Oct. 16. For details, visit www.dupageforest.org.

Forum set for 111th Street

Naperville residents can learn about proposed improvements to 111th Street between Route 59 and Perth Drive during a forum from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 14 at Crone Middle School, 111th Street and 248th Avenue. The city plans to widen 111th Street between Route 59 and Perth Drive to three lanes and the intersection of 111th and Route 59 to five lanes. It also plans to install sidewalks and streetlights and to improve stormwater drainage. Construction is slated to begin in spring 2010 and be completed that fall. Lombard holds senior fair

Lombard will hold its fifth annual senior fair from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 7 at the park district Community Building, 433 E. St. Charles Road. The Secretary of State's Mobile Drivers Services Facility will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to offer vision screening, duplicate or corrected driver's licenses, driver's license renewals, identification cards and vehicle renewal stickers. Free hearing, diabetes and blood pressure screenings will be offered. Flu shots will be available for $25, free to those with Medicare Part B and Medicaid. Pneumonia shots are $45.

Lombard streaming live

Resident can now watch Lombard village board and plan commission meetings live over the Internet. To watch a meeting, click on the "View Live Meeting" button on the front page of the village Web site, www.villageoflombard.org. Streaming begins as soon as the meeting is called to order. Previous meetings are archived on the Web site. Click on the "Government" tab and then on "View Archived Meetings."
