Crystal Lake house fire causes $40,000 in damage
A Wednesday night fire that roared through a Crystal Lake house and continued into Thursday caused $40,000 worth of damage, authorities said.
At 11 p.m., the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue department was dispatched to the 8700 block of Hillcrest Avenue, on a report that the vacant, single-family house was covered in flames.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control in about 30 minutes, but remained on the scene for several hours extinguishing hot spots.
Firefighters from the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District, as well as the Nunda Fire Protection District, assisted Crystal Lake. Nobody was injured in the fire, authorities said.
The fire's cause remains under investigation.
