Nomination deadline nears for West Aurora distinguished alums

The deadline for nominating West Aurora High School graduates to the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Honor is Wednesday, Sept. 30. The next induction ceremony is set for spring of 2010.

The Distinguished Alumni Award, sponsored by the A+ Foundation for West Aurora Schools, honors West graduates who have distinguished themselves beyond their high school years.

Their significant accomplishments can be in the arts, business, community service, education, government, medicine, science or other professions.

Specifically, an Alumni Award candidate should: be a graduate of West Aurora High School and have had a positive high school experience; the graduation requirement may be waived for candidates who went into military service before their graduation during war years; graduated at least 15 years before nomination (1994 or earlier); have accomplishments or service recognized as outstanding with awards, honors or other forms of distinction; and have had a profound and positive international, national or regional impact in their chosen field of endeavor.
