Waubonsie and Neuqua's elite 11 games

Entering tonight's Indian Prairie Classic between Neuqua Valley and Waubonsie Valley at North Central College's Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium, Neuqua Valley holds a 7-3 lead in the rivalry. Waubonsie Valley, however, has won the last two meetings between the District 204 rivals.

Here's a brief recap of each game in the series:

1999: Neuqua Valley 14, Waubonsie Valley 6

In only its second year of varsity football - the teams didn't meet in Neuqua's winless 1998 debut - Bryen Johnson gains 138 yards with 2 second-quarter touchdowns.

2000: Neuqua Valley 21, Waubonsie Valley 17

Wildcats quarterback Mike Askren hits Chris Genslinger for the game-winning TD in the final 15 seconds.

2001: Waubonsie Valley 7, Neuqua Valley 0 (OT)

Warriors running back Andrew Block finishes with 120 yards rushing and the winning touchdown, after fumbling on the Warriors' last possession in regulation.

2002: Neuqua Valley 27, Waubonsie Valley 7

Waubonsie Valley wins the coin toss but defers. Jason Horton makes the Warriors pay with a 97-yard kickoff return.

2003: Neuqua Valley 28, Waubonsie Valley 7

In the first Classic held at North Central College, five Warriors leave the field injured, including quarterback Paul Blalock and tailback Larry Russell.

2004: Neuqua Valley 63, Waubonsie Valley 21

Neuqua's Ken Rice passes for a school-record 244 yards and 3 touchdowns, Mike Genslinger runs for 221 yards, 4 TDs.

2005: Neuqua Valley 22, Waubonsie Valley 3

Alan Smith runs for 165 yards, Jonn "The Train" Haywood goes for 100.

2006: Neuqua Valley 25, Waubonsie Valley 6

Neuqua Valley's C.J. Robertson makes 18 tackles, 2 for loss, with 2 forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a pass interception. He adds a 10-yard touchdown catch.

2007: Waubonsie Valley 10, Neuqua Valley 6

Despite just 148 yards of offense, Waubonsie snaps Neuqua's streak on Rich Tronolone's 16-yard run and Mitch Ewald's 35-yard field goal all in the first half.

2008: Waubonsie Valley 28, Neuqua Valley 26

Tyler Castro completes 19 of 28 passes for 268 yards, 4 TDs, including the winner to Scott Kuehn with 5:49 left.

2009: "Their offense, to me, looks like it's on the verge of busting loose," said Wildcats coach Bryan Wells. "I hope it happens the week after we play them."

"It's like any rivalry game," Waubonsie coach Paul Murphy said. "It's for bragging rights of the district."
