Scouting: WW South @ Naperville North
DuPage Valley Conference
WW South (3-1, 2-0) at Naperville North (3-1, 1-1)
Game time 7:30 p.m. today.
Last week WW South 24, Naperville Central 8; Naperville North 55, West Aurora 25.
Last year Naperville North 7, WW South 6.
Outlook WW South enjoyed one of its better defensive games last week thanks to 2 interceptions by Shane Dierking, 8 tackles by program player of the week Mike Heaton and constant quarterback pressure from Matt Ives. Offensively, however, the Tigers lost running back Julian Banuelos for four weeks to a sprained MCL. That leaves the running game in the hands of Matt Rogers and quarterback Mack Tracey, who continues to split time with junior Reilly O'Toole. Injuries forced Naperville North to blend in several personnel changes, the most significant being linebacker Nick Lifka's addition of fullback duties. Last week he responded with 60 rushing yards. Fellow linebacker Arnas Gintautas is playing guard, Nick Krejci's at center, Nolan Randall moved to tackle and George Lord moved from offense to defensive line. Last week the moves worked to the tune of 378 rushing yards led by 158 from Idris Hanidu. Look for the Huskies to open up the passing game more with quarterback Matt LaCosse. More good news for the Huskies: Jon Ryan returned from a broken wrist to play safety last week.
Next week Naperville Central vs. Naperville North at North Central College; WW South at Wheaton North.
