Scouting: Fremd @ Barrington
MID-SUBURBAN WEST
Fremd (4-0) at Barrington (1-3)
When 7:30 p.m. today at Barrington Community Stadium
Last week Fremd d. Rolling Meadows 21-20; Barrington lost to Prospect 39-37
Outlook Both teams are usually in the hunt for the MSL West title - with six-time defending champion Fremd looking for its sixth 5-0 start since 1995 to become eligible to extend its league-record playoff streak to 15 years while Barrington is looking to keep its postseason hopes alive. "It's always a great game and both teams are very similar," said Barrington coach Joe Sanchez. "They want to pound the rock and throw to keep you honest. It could be one of the fastest games in MSL history." Fremd rallied last week with 3 second-half TDs by Evan Wright (620 yards, 9 TDs) and junior QB Rich Concialdi will get his fourth start after coming in at halftime against Meadows. Barrington also gets FS Brett Seeger back after missing last week because of injury and has the dangerous duo of sophomore Chase Murdock (578 yards, 2 TDs) and QB Terrance Terry (459 yards, 10 TDs) against Fremd's opportunistic defense led by LB-DB Jayme Szafranski. "(Murdock) is a strong running back," said Fremd coach Mike Donatucci. "He doesn't have great speed but he follows his blocks well and their offensive line is very good. Terry is elusive and it's a nice 1-2 punch." Fremd has won 8 of the last 9 meetings for a 19-13 series lead.
