Outlook Old friends get reacquainted after a long layoff. These District U-46 rivals will play for the Braggin' Jug for the first time since 2004. The Hawks and Sabres have clashed seven times since Bartlett made its Upstate Eight Conference debut in 1998. The Hawks own a 5-2 series advantage. Streamwood won in 1998 (42-19) and 2002 (21-14). "It's kind of exciting because we haven't had them on the schedule since I've been here," said fourth-year Streamwood coach Cal Cummins. "I was familiar with Bartlett going back to the (Upstate Eight-NIC-9) crossover days when I coached at Freeport so I was familiar with them, though we didn't play them. They're a good ballclub. They may not be the team they've been in the past, but we'll have to come out and bring our best game. Nick Pryor is going to have to step up and have a really solid performance for us, no question." Pryor will start at quarterback in place of injured sophomore Dalton Lundeen. He broke his collarbone last week against Lake Park and is out for the season. Bartlett has lost three straight for the first time since starting the season 0-4 in 2006. The Hawks rallied to make the playoffs that year and intend to keep their playoff hopes alive with a win in this Upstate Eight Conference rivalry game. "The kids are working hard and they have confidence," Bartlett coach Tom Meaney said. "We just have to get it put together. We're hoping to get back in the race. Streamwood has probably one of the toughest backfields in the conference with (Derrick) King and (Alex) Morrow. They'll be a tough couple of guys to stop, but we're up for the challenge. We've had a good week of practice and I'm expecting good things from our boys coming out on Friday night." Bartlett has its own injury issues on offense. Top receiving threat Zach Konstanzer is out for the season with a broken collarbone suffered in Week 2 and sophomore receiver Zach Karys will miss this game with a rib injury. "Hopefully, we'll have some other players step up this week," Meaney said.
