Wheaton police probe burglaries
Wheaton police are reminding residents to lock their houses and garages after burglars struck at two homes within 24 hours.
Both daytime burglaries happened on the 400 block of West Front Street while no one was home.
Deputy Chief Tom Meloni said the first burglary occurred before noon Wednesday when intruders forced open the front door.
The second case occurred before noon Thursday when someone entered an unlocked home and stole cash and credit cards.
Police said no suspect descriptions are available.
Meanwhile, police are continuing to investigate several residential burglaries in the past few months, including incidents on the 400 block of South Hale Street and the 600 block of East Willow Avenue. Force was used in two of the burglaries and an unlocked door or window were used in the others, police said. Authorities advised residents to call 911 if they observe anything or anyone suspicious in their neighborhood.
Anyone with information about the burglaries should call Cmdr. James Volpe at (630) 260-2055.
