Addison names new fire chief

Chief Leigh Fabbri will retire Sept. 30 after more than 30 years of service with the Addison Fire Protection District and will be replaced by Deputy Chief Don Markowski.

Markowski joined the district in March 2008 when he was appointed deputy chief after spending 27 years with the Glenside Fire Protection District in Glendale Heights.

The board of trustees will swear in the new chief at 7 p.m. Oct. 7.
