Film fest takes center stage:
Naperville's second Independent Film Festival opens with a "Ghostbusters" Tribute Bash from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. today at the Holiday Inn Select, 1801 N. Naper Blvd. The festival, which runs through Sept. 26, will feature 80 movies by filmmakers from around the world and appearances by several celebrity guests. Art fair along Riverwalk:
The Naperville Art League's Riverwalk Fine Art Fair opens today and continues through Sunday in downtown Naperville. The juried show features roughly 150 artists from across the country displaying and selling their works along Jackson Avenue and the Riverwalk from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Sunday. Combat vets honored:
Nearly 50 Medal of Honor recipients will be honored at 1:30 p.m. today in ceremonies at Cantigny Park, 1S151 Winfield Road, Wheaton. The distinguished combat veterans have been in Chicago this week attending a convention and will participate in the Cantigny ceremony to honor National POW/MIA Recognition Day.
