Get moving at YMCA:
Heritage YMCA Group, which serves Aurora, Naperville and Oswego, holds a kickoff celebration for "Get Moving!" health and wellness week from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, at Knoch Knolls Park, on Knock Knolls Road south of Ring Road, in Naperville. Free pedometers will be given to the first 500 attendees and additional pedometers can be purchased for $5 each. The event includes inflatables, family walks, wellness demonstrations, vendor booths, body composition and fitness testing, and a disc golf demo. Park seeks volunteers:
West Chicago Park District is seeking volunteers to make Chicago Wilderness Corporate Council Day of Service a success by helping clean up recently acquired land adjacent Pioneer Park from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 26. Peanut Day coming:
Members of the Kiwanis Club of Lombard, SEASPAR Aktion Club and Glenbard Easy Key Club will hit the streets and local stores on Sept. 24-26 to sell peanuts to raise money for charities and child-centered projects. Supporters also can buy a case of 100 bags for $40 by sending a check or money order to the club at P.O. Box 321, Lombard, IL 60148.
