Outlook Last year's game began with a 21-0 blitz by WW South, which hasn't lost this game since 2004. Redhawks coach Mike Stine knows his team must get off to a better start, and that means better defense. They have major pass rush ability with linemen Alex Schaefer and Cam Brate. The unit received a boost last week when linebacker Matt Soria, a returning starter, saw his first action of the season. The offense revolves around quarterback Nick Linne, who accounted for more than 400 yards of offense last week. Linne has a dangerous corps of receivers. Brate, the tight end, and Hayden Daniels boast a combined 27 catches for 400 yards and 4 touchdowns. Plus, they're both at least 6-foot-4. That'll be the top challenge for a WW South defense that includes defensive back Shane Dierking, who has both of the team's interceptions. Linebackers Mike Heaton, Jack Eshelman and Tom LaBelle are new to the lineup, but they're developing quickly. On offense quarterbacks Reilly O'Toole and Mack Tracey continue to share time behind center. Tracey has been featured more in rushing situations with running back Julian Banuelos. Along with Brate, the Tigers' Dan Hohenstein is one of the area's top tight ends. The best part of WW South's offense? It hasn't committed a turnover this season.
Next week Naperville Central at Glenbard East; WW South at Naperville North.
