RMHS stages 'One Acts' today:
The Drama Club of Rolling Meadows High School presents its student-directed "One Acts," at 7:30 p.m. today, Sept. 17, in the school theater. Three plays: "Hard Candy," by Jonathan Rand; "Pizza: A Love Story," by Julianne Berstein and "Wanda's Visit," by Christopher Durang will be performed. Tour four homes this Friday:
A housewalk sponsored by the Northwest Suburban Guild of Children's Memorial Hospital will be held 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18. Four homes in Barrington Hills, Inverness and Palatine will be featured, including the historic Victorian-style Patten House in Palatine. The tour begins at Honquest Furniture for Living, 1455 S. Crash snarls I90:
Traffic along Interstate 90 between Elgin and Arlington Heights was snarled about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday after a woman possibly suffering a diabetic reaction crashed and rolled her Jeep over, authorities said. Illinois State Police Sgt. Paul Carlos said the woman was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates with nonlife threatening injuries.
Crash shuts Rte. 14 and Hicks:
Route 14 and Hicks Road were closed down for about 30 minutes following a traffic accident Wednesday morning, Palatine Police said. Sasa Pavlovic, 27, of the 5000 block of Montrose Avenue in Chicago, was ticketed in the accident for disobeying a traffic control device, said Cmdr. Kurt Schroeder. His vehicle hit a car driven by a 42-year-old Palatine woman. Both were treated at the scene and released, Schroeder said.
Trailer theft is costly:
A brand new truck trailer and its contents worth $125,000 were stolen overnight Monday from Condor Trans Inc., 1700 Carmen Drive, Elk Grove Village, police said.
Palatine eatery gets makeover:
The Taco Bell at 320 N. Northwest Hwy. in Palatine has been bulldozed to make way for a more modern Taco Bell. The site is just north of Northwest Highway and Palatine Road, where the Illinois Department of Transporation is using federal stimulus money to install new energy efficient traffic lights.
Fremd event to benefit CASA:
Fremd High School is hosting a fundraiser Thursday, Sept. 17, on behalf of sexual assault victims. Neon Night, held by the Health Care Careers Club, begins at 5 p.m. at the high school, 1000 S. Quentin Road, Palatine. Students will sell baked goods, glow necklaces and neon bandannas during the sophomore and varsity football games. The event benefits Northwest Center Against Sexual Assault, one of the only agencies in the suburbs to provide free services to sexual assault victims and their loved ones.
