Indiana town worried Navistar truck center may move to Lisle
FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Fort Wayne officials are concerned they won't be able to persuade Navistar against moving its truck design center to suburban Chicago.
The company is seeking zoning changes to build an office campus and advanced-technology center in Lisle, which the village says could have 3,500 employees.
Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance President Andi Udris says he's very concerned about whether Navistar's 1,000-worker Truck Design and Technology Center would stay in the city.
Navistar spokesman Roy Wiley says no decisions had been made about the Lisle location or what operations might be moved there.
Udris says it's much easier to provide economic incentives to attract new jobs than it is to retain existing ones.
