Scouting: Rolling Meadows @ Fremd
Rolling Meadows (2-1) at Fremd (3-0)
When 6:30 p.m. today at Hale Hildebrandt Field
Last week Meadows d. Barrington 27-17; Fremd d. Wheeling 42-0
Outlook Last year's 14-7 comeback win by Fremd was in an atmosphere befitting teams with the two longest current playoff streaks (Fremd at 14; Meadows at six). And this year could be no exception with QB Jimmy Garoppolo and WR Tony Taibi of Meadows taking on a stingy Fremd defense led by James Szafranski that has allowed only 14 points. "Garoppolo is a stud," said Fremd coach Mike Donatucci. "He could be the best athlete in the conference. His ability to throw downfield to a good receiving corps combined with his running ability will be a challenge." The Mustangs' front led by Erick Louis-Charles will have a big challenge up front with Christian Lombard leading the way for the dangerous Evan Wright. "We're looking forward to having the opportunity to compete against such a quality program and staff," said Meadows coach Doug Millsaps. "Their size up front concerns us and they are such a fundamental defensive team. It will be hard to find easy points." Fremd leads the series 7-6.
