1 gets prison, 1 gets boot camp in car burglary spree
A 29-year-old man is headed to prison for the third time and his accomplice will be going to boot camp after they pleaded guilty Tuesday to breaking into cars throughout the suburbs.
Having already served prison time for burglary and forgery, Kirk Aricioglu, of the 2600 block of Pirate Cove in Schaumburg, admitted to breaking into five cars and crashing his vehicle into a police car during his arrest on June 23 in Schaumburg.
"Do you want to be John Dillinger?" barked Cook County Circuit Court Judge Thomas P. Fecarotta, who strongly reminded Aricioglu that he had previous chances to kick his heroin addiction and stop committing crimes.
As part of a plea agreement negotiated by Assistant Public Defender Helen Tsimouris, Assistant State's Attorney Mike Gerber and private defense attorney Steve Roach, Aricioglu's accomplice, Anthony Eiben, 25, of the 100 block of Heather Court in Rolling Meadows, was sentenced to Cook County's boot camp, an alternative program designed to get younger offenders back on track.
