Put a lid on the preachy rhetoric

Many holier-than-thou Christians feel the need to spread pompous pronouncements through the pages of the Daily Herald's letters page.

Many of you raise all kinds of noise about abortion in the United States, claiming there are one million "murders" every year. Well, guess what? China is doing it to the tune of 15 million a year as reported in the World and Nation in 60 Seconds section. So, there are millions of reasons why you all should pack your bags and high-tail it to China. Good luck and good riddance. Let us all know when you solved the problem.

June brought us a wonderful gay pride month. All over the world, people celebrate the freedom to be who they are. Gay pride is the pride you feel knowing you've defied all the odds and all the haters and have come to accept exactly who you are - and you've become willing to sacrifice and fight for those who are still struggling. The truth, through love, marches on with head held high.

Have you heard how the Republican party and the conservative movement have gone off the cuff? We've got many members of Congress involved with the "C Street House" - a modern day cult of "Christians" who've adopted Nietzsche's philosophy of the superman. This is not comic book stuff. This is the same philosophy that led to Hitler and Nazism.

Proof once more that the only thing required for evil to flourish is for good men to remain silent - and a bunch of ignorant knuckleheads to vote these scoundrels into office.
