Police: Ingleside mom took kids on a drug sale delivery
A 22-year-old Ingleside mother faces child endangerment charges after taking her infant children along on a heroin delivery in Round Lake Beach, police said.
Carissa A. Allred, of the 2600 block of Cooney Island Road, was also charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, Round Lake Beach Police Officer Paul Grace said.
Allred met undercover agents in the parking lot of Big Lots on Rollins Road at 6 p.m. Tuesday and attempted to sell a gram of heroin to officers, Grace said. The value of the drug sold was roughly $60.
Her two infant children were in the back seat of her vehicle during the delivery, he said. They were handed over to family members.
Allred is held in Lake County jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.
She was arrested and charged in late 2008 with felony retail theft and resisting and obstructing a peace officer.
