Romeoville teen killed in car-truck accident in Woodridge

A Romeoville teen was killed early Wednesday morning following an accident between an automobile and a truck in Woodridge.

James Kaylor, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene following the head-on collision on Joliet Road near St. James Gate Drive just after 1 a.m. Wednesday, said Kate Croteau, Woodridge police spokeswoman.

Croteau said preliminary investigations show Kaylor, who was traveling north on Joliet Road, lost control of his vehicle and crossed into oncoming traffic, striking the truck head-on.

She said the driver of the truck, which was heading south, applied the brakes but was unable to avoid the collision. The truck driver was not injured.

Police still are trying to determine what caused Kaylor to cross the center line, but it does not appear drugs or alcohol were involved.

As a result of the crash, Joliet Road was closed between Bluff Road and Davey Road until 5 a.m. Joliet Road was completely reopened at 7:40 a.m.
