District 214 celebrates three perfect ACT scores
Three students from Northwest Suburban High School District 214 received a perfect composite score of 36 on the ACT, a national college admission and placement examination.
Rolling Meadows High School senior Brian Bourn earned the top score when he took the exam as part of the national test on April 4. Seniors Prathyum Ramesh, also of Rolling Meadows High School, and Daniel Malsom, of Wheeling High School, received a perfect 36 when they took the ACT as part of the Prairie State Assessment Exam on April 22. The PSAE is given to all high school juniors in Illinois annually.
The ACT tests students in English, math, reading and science. Each test is scored on a scale of 1-36, and a student's composite score is the average of the four test scores.
Of the more than 1.4 million students to take the ACT last year, less than one-tenth of 1 percent earned a perfect 36.
The national composite score for the class of 2009 is 21.1, and the state's average is 20.8.
