Schaumburg Septemberfest summer's last hurrah

Schaumburg's annual Labor Day festival, Septemberfest, returns for its 39th year Saturday through Monday. Here's all the you need to know to get ready for Schaumburg's last party of the summer:

• There are a few changes this year, but one thing that hasn't changed is the location: Despite rumors to the contrary, the fest will be held on the grounds of the Schaumburg Municipal Center, at Schaumburg Court and Summit Drive.

• One change this year is that fireworks, before a nightly event, are scheduled only for Sunday at around 10 p.m. The rain date is Monday at 9 p.m.

• There will be daily entertainment by local acts such as music and dance troupes from the Schaumburg Park District and Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54, children's entertainers performing shows and strolling the grounds and nationally known acts on the main stage every evening, including the headlines the Randy Bachman Band at 8:30 p.m. Saturday; Starship starring Mickey Thomas and Toto's Bobby Kimball at 8:30 p.m. Sunday; and Mike & Joe at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
