Police plan heroin forum:
Elmhurst police, in cooperation with officials from York, Immaculate Conception and Timothy Christian high schools, will play host to a forum on heroin use in the community at 7 p.m. Sept. 10 at York, 355 W. St. Charles Road. Police say they have seen an increase in heroin use by young people.
Lisle school holds sale:
The Lisle Elementary School HSO will hold its Children's Toy and Clothing Resale Sept. 19 in the Schiesher School gym at 5205 Kingston Ave. Admission is free to the sale that runs from 7 a.m. until noon and again for a half-price sale on selected items from 1 to 3 p.m. For details, call (630) 493-8195.
Lombard plans Prairie Days:
Lombard Park District, garden club and historical society will celebrate their sixth annual Prairie Days from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 20 at Terrace View, Greenfield Avenue and Elizabeth Street in Lombard. Bird bath auction slated:
"The Bird Baths of Lisle" will be auctioned from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 23 at Bobak's Signature Events along Route 53 in Woodridge. Proceeds from the auction will benefit charities supported by the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce. The event will feature 25 concrete bird baths that were decorated by area artists. They will remain on public display in the village through Sept. 22. The auction is co-sponsored by the Lisle Community Arts Committee and the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce.
