Bowlers needed for Elk Grove league
The Wednesday Senior Men's Bowling League needs three full-time members, age 55 and over, to begin bowling 12:15 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 9 at Elk Grove Bowl, Higgins and Arlington Heights roads, in Elk Grove Village. Prospect Hts. library offers museum pass
Prospect Heights Library cardholders can get free admission to Chicago area museums in a partnership called The Museum Adventure Pass presented by Macy's.
Cardholders can receive up to four complimentary passes to 17 museums including the Brookfield Zoo, Chicago Botanic Garden and Kohl Children's Museum beginning Sept. 1. Meet Mt. Prospect chief, command staff
Mount Prospect Police Chief John Dahlberg will hold several informal citizen discussion sessions this fall at the Mount Prospect Public Library, 10 S. Emerson St., Room 130.
Dahlberg and members of his command staff will answer residents' questions and hear their concerns. No advance notification of attendance is necessary.
Meetings are: 10-11:30 a.m. Sept. 24; 6:30-8 p.m. Sept. 26; and 6:30-8 p.m. Oct. 1.
DAR opens its 2009 history essay contest
The Twenty-first Star Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution annual American History Essay Contest is open to students in grades 5-8. The topic is the Completion of the First Transcontinental Railroad.
One essay at each grade level is selected as the Des Plaines chapter winner and goes to the state competition. The deadline is Dec. 1. Contact Nancy Meyer for contest guidelines at (847) 824-1150.
