WCC to hold free events to celebrate Year of Astronomy

In celebration of the International Year of Astronomy, Waubonsee Community College will hold several free events in the upcoming months.

On Thursday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m., former astronaut Jon McBride will discuss his experience as the pilot of a 1984 shuttle mission. On Saturday, Sept. 19, at 7:30 p.m., Adjunct Instructor Joseph DalSanto will highlight key astronomical discoveries made over the past four centuries.

October's event features NASA scientist Dr. Jason Steffen presenting "Finding Other Earths" on Oct. 1, at 7 p.m.

All events are free and will take place in the auditorium of the Sugar Grove Campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive. To reserve your spot, please call the college's Community Education department at (630) 466-7900, ext. 2360.
