USA, Europe all locked up at 6 apiece in Solheim Cup

It's game on at the Solheim Cup following some thrilling Saturday morning matches that saw the Europeans rally late to tie things up at 6-6 heading into the afternoon fourball matches.

Team USA started out strong with Michelle Wie and Christina Kim easily finishing off Helen Alfredsson and Tania Elosegui on the 14th to register the first point of the day, a 5&4 victory. The American tandem set a Solheim record by winning 8 holes in the shortened round.

But the European squad showed its mettle when Catriona Matthew and Diana Luna fought back from two down with two holes to go to halve their match with Angela Stanford and Brittany Lang.

That momentum shift was followed by Suzann Pettersen and Anna Nordqvist finishing off Nicole Castrale and Cristie Kerr 2 Up, and Gwladys Nocera and Maria Hjorth outlasting Brittany Lincicome and Kristy McPherson to win 1 Up.

Here are the afternoon pairings:

Match 13: Janice Moddie/Sophie Gustafson of Europe vs. Paula Creamer/Juli Inkster.

Match 14: Helen Alfredsson/Suzann Pettersen of Europe vs. Kristy McPherson/Morgan Pressel.

Match 15: Becky Brewerton/Gwladys Nocerea of Europe vs. Natalie Gulbis/Christina Kim.

Match 16: Anna Nordqvist/Maria Hjorth of Europe vs. Cristie Kerr/Michelle Wie.
