Lisle warns of senior scam
Lisle police are warning residents about a new nationwide scam in which callers have posed as young relatives of elderly people to scam seniors into sending large sums of money by wire transfer.
Police recently responded to a case involving a Lisle resident who received a call from someone claiming to be their grandson. The caller said he had been arrested in Canada and needed bail money.
The victim then sent the caller $3,900. Police are urging residents to be cautious when answering unsolicited calls and to never give out personal information or transfer funds without consulting with a family member and verifying the caller's story.
Lisle police are asking residents who receive suspicious calls to report them at (630) 271-4200.
