Funeral set for teen killed in Campton Hills crash

Funeral services have been set for Kelsey Barsic, a 17-year-old Elburn woman killed in a one-car crash Tuesday morning.

The wake is from 2 to 8 p.m. Aug. 24, with a liturgical service at 8 p.m., at Conley Funeral Home, 106 W. Pierce St., Elburn. A funeral Mass will be said at 11 a.m. at St. Gall Catholic Church, Route 47 and Shannon Street, also in Elburn.

Barsic's Chevrolet Malibu went off road in the 41W300 block of Burlington Road in Campton Hills and struck a tree. The wreck was discovered by nearby residents around 6 a.m.

On Thursday, Campton Hills Police Chief Gregory Anderson said police have narrowed the possible time frame of the crash. She was visiting with friends in unincorporated Campton Township and left them at 1 a.m., he said.

The cause is still being investigated. There are no indications she braked before leaving the roadway.

Barsic was due to start her senior year at Kaneland High School next week.
