Winfield Run a smashing success
On Aug. 8, the Winfield Historical Society sponsored the twenty-sixth annual Winfield Run, and once again enjoyed a very successful event.
The run benefits Hedges Station, the oldest building in Winfield and the oldest remaining depot in the state. During the past several years the depot has been restored, and the opening of the building as a museum is imminent. The historical society appreciates the support of the community for the run, which is the primary fundraiser for the group, and in particular wants to thank the sponsors and donors of this year's run.
Gold level: Winfield Park District. Silver: Winfield Community Bank. Bronze: Central DuPage Hospital, John's Restaurant & Tavern and Race Time. Media sponsor: Winfield Press.
Donors include: Dr. Harvey Bogin, Tree Green, Inc., West Suburban Travelers, Winfield Flower Shoppe, Gianorio's Pizza, Marylou Crane, Marcia McAdams, Ronald and Bonnie Hansen, Doug and Mary Tibble, Ron and Mary Ann Barzso, Joel and Harriet Kunesh, Todd Williamson, Gary Gall, Ingram Family in memory of Roland, Virginia Faesen in memory of Bob, Marlys Powers, Dennis and Donna Moffatt, Rock and Vivian Rockett, Clarence and Connie Quinlan, Dick Pond Shoes, Trader Joe's, Ultra Foods, Family Foods, Jewel, Einstein Bagels, Culligan DuPage Soft Water Services, Panera Bread, Costco.
The historical society also thanks the 50-plus volunteers who worked on race day to make the Winfield Run run smoothly. Many of them have been helping for many years and are largely responsible for our success.
