Wheaton cops seek robbery suspect
Wheaton police are looking for help to catch a person who stole a carton of cigarettes from a Naperville Road gas station.
Police said during the early morning hours of Aug. 8, a man walked into the Shell gas station at 2025 S. Naperville Road by himself and approached the clerk.
Police said he asked for the carton and, when the clerk retrieved it, the suspect forcefully grabbed the cigarettes out of the clerk's hand and ran out of the station. No one was injured in the robbery.
Police believe the suspect fled on foot from the station, but a search of the area came up empty.
The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 30 to 35 years old, 5-feet, 9-inches tall, and about 180 pounds. He was clean shaven with very short, black hair and was wearing a black leather jacket and black pants.
People with information are encouraged to phone Deputy Chief Tom Meloni at the Wheaton Police Department at (630) 260-4862.
