ITW revenues dip in 2Q

GLENVIEW -Illinois Tool Works reported an operating revenue decrease of 24 percent for the three months ending July 31.

The decline consisted of a 21 percent decrease in base revenues and an 8 percent decline in contributions from currency translation. Acquisitions contributed 5 percent to revenues in the three-month period.

For the most recent three-month period, base revenues modestly improved versus the 2009 second quarter largely as a result of improving activity for businesses in the transportation, polymers and fluids and construction segments.
