The way to go on red light cameras

If the state or municipalities were truly interested in decreasing the number of red light violations, those that are dangerous and cause accidents, they might look into a system of warnings that we encountered on a visit to Vancouver Island in Canada.

When a green light is "old" and about to change to yellow, the green light flashes. This gives the driver ample warning to slow down and prepare to stop.

I don't have statistics on differences in accidents since this system was put in, but we were grateful for it as we didn't have to slam on our brakes and perhaps be rear-ended, nor did we run a red light and risk a ticket and perhaps lives.

Perhaps there is a safer solution.
