Lincolnshire site offers revamped service for businesses

Lincolnshire-based Quill.com has revamped its Web site, aiming to boost its online sales by going after the small business market with various office products.

In response to customer feedback, Quill.com decided to make changes. They include a simplified checkout process; product finder tools for printers, shredders and other items; a paper finder; customer reviews; and a list of your recent views.

"They plan to continue to improve the site to make sure the experience matches up to customers' increasing expectations for ease, simplicity and clarity," said spokeswoman Erin Kane.

Quill has been serving the market for about 40 years with catalog and phone sales. It introduced its Web site in 1996. It continued to serve businesses after it was acquired by Staples Inc. in 1998.

Staples still serves consumers, while Quill.com focuses on businesses.

"They have different target audiences because Quill.com targets small businesses with less than 100 employees and the office managers who keep everything on track at those ventures, while Staples is more for general consumers," said Kane.

Quill.com also revamped its brand identity and logo and introduced a new tagline: "Best experience in office products."

While Quill still provides phone sales, about 75 percent of its overall sales are online, the company said.

It's also one of the few companies that provides delivery for free for orders over $45.
