Kane assault hearing moved to next Thursday

A preliminary hearing for Blackhawks star Patrick Kane and his cousin has been moved to next Thursday in Erie County, N.Y.

The hearing had been scheduled for Monday, but Patrick Kane's lawyer, Paul Cambria, asked for the delay so that his client could participate in the three-day U.S. Olympic orientation camp that starts Monday at Seven Bridges Ice Arena in Woodridge.

Kane and his 21-year-old cousin, James M. Kane, each have been charged with two counts of second-degree robbery, Class C felonies, as well as misdemeanor criminal mischief and theft of services from taxi driver Jan Radecki.

The incident between the Kanes and Radecki took place Sunday morning in Buffalo, N.Y., which is Patrick Kane's hometown.

There has been no indication from either the Hawks or USA Hockey whether Kane will publicly address the situation either before or during he orientation camp.

The attorney for Radecki told the Buffalo News on Wednesday that the cabdriver does have a valid driver's license. That newspaper Tuesday reported that Radecki did not.
