Can't spend our way out of debt

The news on the Aug 1 weekend was all about the "cash for clunkers" run on car dealerships. President Obama informed us that $1 billion would be enough. In four days that amount has been used up and now the House of Representatives is voting for two billion more. That means that $3 billion dollars, and possibly more, should have been allocated.

Obama and Congress are supposed to be smart enough to know these things and not underestimate so seriously. If they only allocated one-third of what was actually needed, what is there to make us taxpayers be gullible enough to think that they are getting the national health cost right? They tell us that national health can be implemented for $1 trillion. Could they be wrong and it really be three trillion?

Since Jan 20, the Obama administration has already tripled the national debt. In fact, it is now more than the Gross National Product of the entire country. Our children and grandchildren will be paying. We cannot afford such profligate spending?

We cannot spend our way out of debt. Wise King Solomon in the Bible said, "The borrower is slave to the lender" (Proverbs 22.7). We will be beholden to whatever country is holding our debt.
