Mount Prospect's new Wal-Mart now open
After six months of renovation work, Mount Prospect's new Wal-Mart has reopened in time for the back-to-school shopping rush.
The store opened its doors Wednesday. About 6,000 square feet was added to the 102,000-square-foot space on Rand Road, north of Central Road.
While still considered small for a Wal-Mart Supercenter, it will feature a larger grocery area, drive-through pharmacy window and eye care center.
The old Wal-Mart store dates to 1991. It closed in late January for the renovation, according to Wal-Mart officials.
