Kane Co. United Way receives grant from foundation
The AT&T Foundation, the philanthropy arm of AT&T, has announced a grant of $3,900 to the United Way of Central Kane County. The grant will go to support essential United Way services and programs that strengthen local communities.
"AT&T is pleased to support the United Way of Central Kane County and we applaud them for the great work they do in the community," said David Strahl, AT&T direct of External Affairs. "During such challenging economic times, their dedication to providing essential services to people in need has never been more important."
This grant is in addition to the generosity of AT&T employees who have contributed to the United Way through the company's employee campaign. AT&T hosts an annual United Way campaign that gives employees a variety of ways to support, including one-time or ongoing donations, a national online auction and local fundraising events.
"Through the generosity of the AT&T Foundation and local AT&T employees, we are able to advance the common good and improve people's lives," said executive director Paula Yensen of the United Way of Central Kane County. "These funds will help us provide opportunities for people regarding health, education and financial stability."
AT&T has long been a supporter of the United Way. The company ranks fourth among corporate donors with combined corporate and employee giving of over $42 million.
The United Way is placing an emphasis nationally on the high school dropout issue which aligns closely with AT&T's focus on education.
