An undercover Internet sting conducted by Wheaton detectives and the DuPage County sheriff's office resulted in a recent arrest. On Friday, a 29-year-old Lombard man was charged with unlawful possession of child pornography, police announced Tuesday. Daniel M. Plume was booked at the Wheaton police station and transferred to DuPage County jail. He was released after posting bond. No further details were released.
Naperville man cited for pot
Henry Monegan, 22, of the 1500 block of Fairway Drive in Naperville, was charged with felony possession of cannabis after he was stopped about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday by Aurora police in the area of Lincoln and Seminary avenues. Police spotted Monegan with blood on his shorts and wanted to question him in reference to an earlier fight in the area where all the subjects dispersed before police arrived. Monegan, who police said had a strong odor of cannabis, consented to a search that allegedly turned up almost 33.50 grams of cannabis from one of his pockets, according to charging documents.

Two charged in car thefts
Johnny R. Taylor, 49, and James T. Taylor, 44, both of the 1900 block of South 15th Street in Broadview, were charged with burglary to a motor vehicle Monday in Aurora. The two allegedly stole a GPS unit and cell phone, both of which were left in plain view, from an unlocked vehicle belonging to a 22-year-old Oswego man who had parked it in the 0-99 block of West New York Street about 3 p.m. After the victim got out of his vehicle and began walking away from it, he looked back and allegedly saw the Taylors pull behind his vehicle in a white van and act suspiciously. When the victim returned to his vehicle, he noticed the items missing. Through the GPS tracking device in the cell phone, the victim learned the last known direction of travel was eastbound I-88 from Farnsworth Avenue. He called state police with the information along with the description of the van from which the Taylors had exited earlier. An Illinois state trooper later spotted the suspect's van, pulled it over, and recovered the stolen items.
DuPage launches survey
DuPage County residents are being asked to voice their opinion on a variety of topics via an online survey at the county's Web site, dupageco.org. The survey allows residents to rank issues that are important to them. Those issues include traffic, economic development, taxes and stormwater among others. The survey also will help county board members prioritize issues during the budget process. The survey will be operational throughout much of the budget process and the results likely will be released at the end of November, officials said.
