Plastic container in a broiler causes Mount Prospect fire
Plastic ware left in a broiler started a kitchen fire in Mount Prospect Saturday night that caused $20,000 worth of damage, fire officials said.
Mount Prospect Fire Department responded to a call of a fire in the kitchen on the 1100 block of Boxwood Drive Saturday night.
Fire Battalion Chief Buz Livingston said the fire started in a broiler in the stove, where a plastic container had been left and caught fire.
The damage from the fire forced residents to find temporary housing. There were no injuries, and no one was taken to a hospital.
Livingston said 22 firemen responded, as well as a mutual aid engine from Prospect Heights.
