Saluting local businesses

West Chicago is launching a new awards program to convey its appreciation to businesses. "Today more than ever, businesses both large and small are challenged to step-up to the pressures of a demanding marketplace through ingenuity, innovation and sheer grit, if they are to survive," Mayor Mike Kwasman said. "West Chicago has many such businesses, and intends to salute them through this annual program." One winner will be chosen in each of the following categories: Small Business of the Year, Community Service, Economic Development, Community Image and Green Initiatives. Businesses may nominate themselves. Information packets may be downloaded from westchicago.org and are also available at City Hall. The nomination deadline is Sept. 4.
