Boats show off, fireworks follow for Fox Lake's Venetian Night

Venetian Night returns to Fox Lake this weekend for the second year. Nancy Rogers, the village's parks and recreation coordinator, tells us what you need to know.

Q. What makes this such a fabulous event?

A. It is a wonderful event for the family and is held on one of our beautiful lakes. We think it is a wonderful event as the village would like to utilize its best asset, which is the surrounding water.

Q. How long has this event been in existence? How has it changed, and what is new this year?

A. This is the second year and we have advertised and got it out more to the public. There will be new vendors this year and hopefully more decorated boats.

Q. What's the highlight of the event?

A. The boat parade and probably the fireworks will be the highlight.

Q. What kinds of food and beverages will be for sale?

A. There will be food and beverages sold at Docker's Restaurant right where the activities will be held. There are also vendors that will be selling Mexican food, hot dogs, brats, ribs, fruit smoothies and beer and wine.

Q. Tell us about the volunteers and organizers who pull this together.

A. This event is being held by the village of Fox Lake but will be paid for by donations from residents and local businesses. It is run through the Parks & Recreation Department and Co-Chairs Katie Koske and Chris Valenciano. The other village departments that are responsible in this event are the fire department, police department and street department.
