Softball registration begins:
Registration has begun for Lombard Park District's Adult Softball League that begins play the week of Aug. 23 at Madison Meadow and Four Seasons parks. A variety of options are available, including coed 12-inch and 14-inch and men's 12-inch, 14-inch and 16-inch. Five or more nonresidents constitute a nonresident team. Teams claiming resident status must provide proof of residency (copy of driver's license) for all players. The registration deadline is Aug. 3. Teams may pick up league packets at Sunset Knoll Recreation Center at 620 S. Finley Road, Lombard, or visit www.lombardparks.com.
Deadline extended:
Children in first through eighth grade have until Aug. 2 to submit a photo entry reflecting the theme "My Favorite Things" in West Chicago's Galley 200's "Picture This" kids photo contest. An entry form must accompany the submitted work. Photos will be displayed at the Gallery throughout August and a reception and award ceremony will be Aug. 7. Easter Seals receives grant:
Easter Seals DuPage and the Fox Valley Region has received a grant from the Grace Bersted Foundation to help children with motor, speech, visual, hearing and learning disabilities access computers to communicate, read, play, and socialize with families and friends. The grant includes an upgraded computer laboratory with 21 new laptops, a wireless printer, and various upgraded software applications. Assistive technology therapists will use the new computer laboratory to evaluate and treat children with disabilities and to train professionals and caregivers on software use to help children communicate.
