Buffalo Grove police looking for intruder

Buffalo Grove police are looking for help tracking down a man who tried to grope a 37-year-old woman as she was sleeping in her condominium early Wednesday morning, police said.

The woman who lived in the 100 block of Villa Verde Drive awoke Wednesday to see the man standing over and touching her in a sexual manner at 5:30 a.m., authorities said.

The woman frightened the intruder away after waking up, officials said. The intruder fled out an open patio door in the rear of the home.

Investigators used a tracking dog from the Vernon Hills Police Department to follow the intruder's scent to the 300 block of Campus Drive in Arlington Heights, officials said. Police were also assisted by Arlington Heights Police to try and track the intruder.

The victim was not physically injured, officials said.

The suspect is described as male between 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing about 150 pounds, He has dark hair and was wearing a dark T-shirt and gray sweat pants. Police said his hair is slightly graying.
