Accessible playground on way
A handicapped-accessible playground at Sullivan School, located on Prospect Heights Elementary District 23's campus at Palatine and Schoenbeck roads, will be ready before school opens this fall, officials said. District officials hope to receive $97,352 in federal stimulus funds to offset the cost of fixing up the playground, which was in disrepair. A school committee helped design the playground. Sullivan has a number of special education students. "We wanted to make sure that the equipment was usable for students that have various disabilities," Superintendent Gregory Guarrine said. An area of the playground has been specially designed for students with limited mobility.
