Hoffman Estates woman sent to prison over hit-and-run
A 26-year-old Hoffman Estates woman was sentenced to two years in prison Monday after pleading guilty to a pair of felony charges stemming from a hit-and-run crash in Crystal Lake late last year.
Jennifer N. North, of the 1000 block of Aspen Drive, admitted guilt to failure to stop after an accident with injuries and driving on a suspended license as part of a plea deal in which McHenry County prosecutors dropped a third more serious felony charge.
She also was ordered to pay $9,917 in restitution to two other drivers involved in the crash.
The charges followed a three-car crash Dec. 17 on Randall Road near Alexander Boulevard. Authorities said North was driving north on Randall when she pulled in front of an oncoming car while attempting to turn left onto Alexandra.
Both cars were then struck by a third vehicle. At least two people suffered non life-threatening injuries, police reports and court records indicate.
Court documents state North has six prior convictions for driving on a suspended or revoked license.
