Arlington Heights

At 9:50 p.m. July 11, a house on Shag Bark Trail near Algonquin Road in Arlington Heights was egged. The offenders were three male teenagers, who fled in a white compact car which had a license that started with the letter "H." Anyone with information about this crime, or any other serious crime, should call Arlington Heights Crime Stoppers at (847) 590-STOP. Callers are guaranteed anonymity and may qualify for a cash reward of up to $1,000.

• Ten gallons of paint worth $400 were stolen out of an unlocked garage on the 500 block of Windgate Court between 7:30 p.m. July 8 and 6:15 p.m. July 9.

• A 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck in a lot on the 400 block of North Salem was broken into between 2 p.m. July 8 and 7:30 a.m. July 9. A GPS was stolen.

• A storage box chained to a baseball backstop in Virginia Park was vandalized with pink paint overnight on July 10-11.

• Vandals wrote gang graffiti and scattered beer cans in the south courtyard and children's play area at Greenbrier School, 2300 block of North Verde, overnight on July 8-9.

• Vandals did $900 damage at the Lake Arlington clubhouse, 2600 block of Towne Boulevard, between 8:30 p.m. July 8 and 6:15 a.m. July 9. They broke a window and tossed chairs, tables and umbrellas in the pool; it is the fourth time this summer patio furniture has been thrown into the pool.

• A garden hose and hose box were taken between June 20 and July 10 from a home on the 700 block of East Marion Street; loss is about $125.

• A garage door on the 100 block of South Brighton Place was vandalized with graffiti between July 1-10; damage is estimated at $100.

Buffalo Grove

• Two bicycles were stolen out of an open garage on the 2800 block of Sandalwood Court between noon to 4 p.m. July 12.

• A resident on the 900 block of Greenridge Road was scammed out of $870 July 12 by two men who drove up in a blue pickup and offered to do concrete work, saying they had leftover concrete from another job. When the concrete dried it was powdery and could be swept off, and when the resident called to stop the check she learned it had already been cashed. Police said the two workers were at the house from 12:15-2 p.m. and the check was cashed shortly after 1 p.m.

• A resident spotted three juveniles trying to get into vehicles parked in a lot on the 1200 block of Deerfield Parkway around 9:30 p.m. July 13. Officers and dogs searched the area without success; nothing was reported stolen.

Des Plaines

• Steven James Gutshall, 18, of the 900 block of Timothy Lane, Des Plaines, Yarhazeth Cortes-Dorantes, 19, of the 5500 block of Sunnyside, Chicago, and Agustin Velazquez Jr., 23, of the 400 block of Falconridge Way, Bolingbrook, were arrested around 6:10 p.m. July 10 after a traffic stop at Wolf and Central roads and charged with possession of marijuana. Their court date is Aug. 2.

• Kestutis A. Huppenbauer, 21, of the 1700 block of North First Avenue, Melrose Park, was arrested around 4:50 p.m. July 11 at Lee Street and Everett Avenue and charged with possession of marijuana. His court date is Aug. 10.

• Michael Ostroshko, 32, of the 1400 block of East Algonquin Road, Des Plaines, was arrested around 2:15 a.m. July 12 in an alley behind his home and charged with aggravated assault after police say he threatened a motorist with a knife during a road rage incident near Cora and East Algonquin Road. The victim followed Ostreshko's car to the alley and phoned police. A court date was scheduled for Aug. 24.

• Jonathan J. Joyce, 42, of the 4300 block of Billingsgate Lane, Woodstock, was arrested around 9 a.m. July 12 and charged with felony obstructing justice, resisting a peace officer and disorderly conduct. Police first saw him lying on the train platform at the downtown Metra depot; police say he ran when he saw them, and officers chased him into a dead-end alley between Graceland and Lee Street. Joyce saw an open kitchen door and ran through a Mexican restaurant with officers in pursuit, who cornered him on the 1300 block of Prairie Street. His court date is July 24.

• An apartment on the 100 block of South River Road was burglarized between 5:30 p.m. July 11 and 7:30 a.m. July 12; someone climbed through a window and stole two laptop computers, cash and cologne valued at $1,080.

Mount Prospect

• Between 2 p.m. July 11 and 8 a.m. July 13, thieves stole mail from seven mailboxes on the 1400 block of Greenbriar Drive, 600 block of Edgewood Lane, and the 1400 and 1500 blocks of Blackhawk Drive. The mail was opened and dumped in Clearwater Park on Lonnquist Boulevard.

• The trunk of a 2009 Honda Civic on the 900 block of South Hi Lusi was broken into between 8 p.m. July 9 and 6 a.m. July 10; $2,740 worth of jewelry, cosmetics, purses and other items were taken.

• Fernando M. Arellano, 25, of the 400 block of West Touhy Ave., Des Plaines, was arrested around 6:25 p.m. July 9 on the 1400 block of South Busse Road and charged with possession of marijuana. His court date is Aug. 13.

Rolling Meadows

• A thief working the 3000 block of Brockway Street on July 11 conned a resident into stepping outside while another thief stole jewelry from inside. The resident told police that at about 1:30 p.m., a male (about 5'2'' with a thin build wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans) knocked on her door and asked her to step outside to explain work reportedly being done at a neighbor's residence. After he left 20 minutes later she found jewelry was missing from her bedroom.

• Four wheel covers worth $200 were stolen off a 2005 Toyota Scion parked on the 3800 block of Golf Road between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. July 9.

Wheeling

• Thieves stole $90 in diet supplements on July 8 that had been delivered to a home on the 600 block of Dorset Court.

• The sidewalk at Arlington Drive and Cardinal Court was vandalized with gang graffiti on July 9 or 10.

Barrington

• A $150 blue and silver mountain bike was taken from a parking lot on the 100 block of West Main Street around 3:45 p.m. July 6.

• Three white males were seen on security tape climbing a fence at the Lions Park pool around 2:30 a.m. July 4; they stole two air horns valued at $125 from the life guard chairs.

• An unlocked vehicle on the 800 block of South Grove was burglarized overnight July 8-9.

Hoffman Estates

• Adam Michael Elizondo, 31, of the 6900 block of Longmeadow Court, Hanover Park, was arrested around 2:30 a.m. July 12 at an establishment on the 100 block of West Algonquin Road and charged with battery and criminal damage to property. His court date is Aug. 24. • Richard Frank Schmidt Jr., 29, of the 100 block of North White Branch Court, Schaumburg, was arrested around 7 p.m. July 13 on the 1900 block of Chippendale Road and charged with battery. His court date is Aug. 18. • Ryan Rowe, 20, of the 1700 block of Kent, Hoffman Estates, was arrested around 1:35 a.m. July 10 at his home and charged with resisting arrest and obstructing a peace officer. His court date is July 30. • Luis Manuel Pina-Lopez, 32, of the 700 block of Salem Drive, Hoffman Estates, was arrested around 5:30 a.m. July 9 at St. Alexius Medical Center, 1555 Barrington Road, and charged with possession of a controlled substance. His court date is Aug. 10. • A GPS unit and sunglasses were stolen out of a 2008 Toyota 4Runner on the 4300 block of Lombardy Lane overnight July 9-10; loss was estimated at $300.

• Torrey D. White, 17, of the 14000 block of Edbrook, Dalton, was charged with retail theft from Walmart, 1555 N. Rand Road, around 6:30 p.m. July 9; court date was not available.

• A 31/2-foot statue of a Greek woman, worth $250, was stolen from a front porch on the 1000 block of West Chatham Drive between 1 and 9 a.m. July 9.

• A 2005 Dodge Neon on the 1400 block of Evergreen Drive was broken into July 10; a $115 GPS was stolen.

• A 2005 Nissan Xterra parked in the village garage at 251 W. Colfax St. was broken into between 11:20 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. July 11; a $350 GPS was stolen.

• A 2004 Chevrolet Corvette in a lot on the 300 block of South Creekside Drive was broken into between 7 and 7:15 p.m. July 11; a $400 radar detector was stolen.

• A 2001 Chevrolet Blazer on the 2000 block of North Ginger Creek Drive was vandalized between 4:30 p.m. July 11 and 12:15 p.m. July 12. Damage was estimated at $3,000.
