Prospective Jaycees invited
The Palatine Jaycees will host an informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, at Caribou Coffee, 575 E. Dundee Road, Palatine, to discuss the benefits of joining the service organization. Concert marks 25th year
Tony Ocean will be appearing at a Ravinia style forum 6:45 p.m. Saturday, July 18, at Holy Family Parish, 2515 Palatine Road, Inverness. This is part of the yearlong 25th anniversary celebration of Holy Family Parish. Tony Ocean is known for copying the styles of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Bobby Darin, Tony Bennett, Tom Jones and others whose romantic songs and lyrics have affected so many of our lives through the years. You can bring blankets and food, or buy tickets for $15 per person to the pig roast dinner. Dinner walk-ups are welcome as long as food holds out, but reservations are requested in advance at (847) 359-0042. Soft drinks and desserts will be on sale separately. There are inside accommodations in case of rain.
Polish opera singer to perform
The Rev. Andrzej Beltowski, an associate pastor at St. Theresa Parish in Palatine, invites the public to a concert featuring his sister, Polish opera singer Lucyna Ordon-Klimczak. She will perform classical music at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 18, at the church, 455 N. Benton St. For the last 20 years, Ordon-Klimczak has been singing opera in Krakow, Poland, as well as Europe, Jamaica and the U.S. Tickets cost $35 and include hors d'oeuvres and champagne during intermission. Township hosts shred event
Hanover Township residents and businesses are invited to bring their old documents for shredding and recycling from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 18, at the township office, 250 S. Route 50, Bartlett. Clerk Katy Dolan Baumer is sponsoring the event, which is free to township residents and businesses. For details, call (630) 837-0301.
Elk Grove concert series continues
Elk Grove Village will host the second performance of its Mid-Summer Classics concert series tonight at the newly landscaped Village Green, 901 Wellington Ave., near village hall. The free concert featuring The Classic Rock All-Stars begins at 7:30 p.m. on the Village Green located between village hall and the library near the intersection of Wellington Avenue and Biesterfield Road.
